Bio Joan Cameron Smith was born in Sydney, Australia in 1984. She continues to live and work there. She studied at The National Art School in Sydney, finishing with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) In Photography in 2006.

In 2007 she was awarded the SOYA prize for Photography.
